Jamison Memory Foam Mattress – How Does the Resort Foam Compare Against Tempurpedic?

Jamison has been making mattresses far longer than most other manufacturers. However, the recent arrival of the memory foam mattress by Tempurpedic has introduced the biggest revolution in the advancement of mattresses since the introduction of the innerspring coil. Jamison, like most major brands, as introduced its own version to compete with Tempurpedic, but how does it compare?

The Jamison Resort Foam collection is available in three configurations; latex, visco foam and Omalon foam. While all three are 'memory foam' of sorts, it's the visco foam mattress that's the genuine article if your talking about the same foam type as that used in a Tempurpedic mattress.

There are many memory foam mattresses available and the variation on price is enormous. You might ask why some brands like Tempurpedic cost a lot more than other like Isontonic. While some of the extra increase in coast of Tempurpedic might be down to advertising and brand name, there's no doubting that the biggest factor in determining price in density.

Basically, a good memory foam mattress should have a density of at least 5lbs. Many of the cheaper brands have a density that is much less, typically around 4lbs. This means that these mattresses often feel softer and may seem more comfortable at first inspection, but they offer neither the support nor durability of the better brands. Lighter density is cheaper because there's more air in the mattress and less memory foam.

The Jamison Resort memory foam mattress is made from high quality visco elastic foam. This means that you can be assured of getting the best possible support and that your mattress will last you many years.

But is the Jamison mattress as good as the Tempurpedic?

Well, this is a subjective matter. Personally, I believe it is. The visco foam has a density that matches the Tempurpedic and the inner foam layer is an excellent high-density foam – all manufacturers use an ordinary, but high density foam as the base layer for a memory foam mattress.

Jamison all makes a variety of different types of memory foam mattress, some come with extra quilting for an even more luxurious feel – Tempurpedic also offers similar mattress configurations.

However, what I really believe is the biggest plus point of the Jamison over the Tempurpedic is price; Jamison is usually cheaper than the comparative Tempurpedic mattress. So, if you want to save yourself a few dollars – and who does not – then the Jamison memory foam mattress is definitely worth considering.
